      @@viesers I was a union roofer and hammers are not good on roofs to remove ice and shingles are like peanut brittle when covered in ice. No impact should be used to remove ice dams. ARMA also frowns on hammering on ice dams. Also steaming ice dams is way faster than a hammer. And smart customers will always choose a method that maintains the integrity of their roof. Always choose low psi steam and not hammers. I’ve been doing this over 20 years and I’d never recommend that someone hire a guy with a hammer. PS… you can’t hammer the ice out of the gutters and downspouts but we can steam the drains, gutters and downspouts to ensure the roof is ready for that first spring rain….

    • @viesers
      @viesers Рік тому

      Ruberr mallet cant harm roof more than you walking on the roof. Your feet is 10 times biger rubber mallet. If roof is made from clay, then it should be designed in way that ice dams cant appear. Gutters shouldnt be cleaned from ice at all. Ice in guuter doesnt pose any risk. Trying to clean it can create way more damage. But if you want clean gutters (and avoid ice dam buildup in first place) then you should put heating cable inside gutter. Running it rough winter will be 10x cheaper, than sending someone with steam on the roof.

    LOL a trigger gun does not mean only a pressure washer

    • @IceDamRemoval-SoftWashing
      @IceDamRemoval-SoftWashing Рік тому

      A trigger gun should never be used to remove ice from a roof and here is why! If the user on the roof releases the trigger the burner turns off and the machine drops out of steam. There is also a spike in pressure when trigger is squeezed again. If the user does not squeeze the trigger and allow machine to go back to steam before cutting ice damage will occur. There is to much room for error when using a trigger gun and the machine can freeze up without constant flow. It’s just a bad idea all around and as a homeowner I would not want a trigger gun used on my roof. And PS a company who sells steamers used on roofs will never sell one with a trigger gun as they may be liable for roof damage.

    • @IceDamRemoval-SoftWashing
      @IceDamRemoval-SoftWashing Рік тому

      @@bobwhelk2117 no that is not correct at all. Max pressure is about 100 psi so it’s not a cold or hot “pressure washer!” This machine is a dedicated ice dam steamer and cannot be changed to be a high pressure machine either cold or hot. This machine is designed and built as a dedicated low pressure ice dam steamer. There are many other companies that do run hot pressure washers and call them steamers when in fact they are not and cannot reach steam temps or low enough pressure to be safe and gentle on roofing materials. High pressure hot water will void asphalt shingle warranty and low psi steam will not. Please check out IDSAFE “Ice Dam Steaming Association For Education” if you really want to learn about the importance differences between the two machines. It has been a passion of mine for years to remove ice correctly with ZERO damage and that can only be done with low psi steam.

      Nick, I am glad to hear you are looking at low pressure options. Because obviously high pressure hot pressure washers will damage and void a roofs warranty. I prefer a machine at about 100 psi and 275-290 degrees F! That is good gentle steam and a really low pressure. But remember even at low pressure you still need the correct steam expansion nozzle. You can’t just drill out a high pressure nozzle to decrease pressure. You are welcome for the video.

      As a business owner we are not concerned with speed we are concerned with a damage free ice dam removal and that is why we choose steam over hot water at high pressure. We could never stay in business if we were damaging roofs. A hot pressure washer will also void a roofs warranty. Steam also is able to safely separate the ice dam from the roof without doing damage unlike a hot pressure washer. We typically charge per hour as there is usually not a great way to see the total amount of ice on the roof. However we do give exact prices if the customer sends us good enough pictures. Hope this helps.

I didn't have lichens on my roof in my roof cleaning vid but bleach does all the work, like you showed. Ice job, but in our experience we use lower pressure tips with 200 plus degrees hot water that does the same job. In my experience we got better results with the water. Also we would get fined about $10,000 being up on the roof like that without a harness & that’s why low pressure is also safer and shoot from the ladder and no boots on the roof. Good luck man and great video

      With 200 degree waters you can’t undercut the ice though. Needs to be steam. I’ve never seen a video of someone close to a roof at 200 degrees. Our pressure is between 100-180 psi never higher than that and our temp is 275-300 deg F. You cannot use an expansion nozzle at 200 so I’m curious to what tip you use. Have a website?
